MANILA - The Philippines retains its two qualifying slots for the upcoming M6 World Championships in Malaysia, as Moonton announced the slot allocation for the annual Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event on Wednesday.
These two slots will be contested by eight franchise clubs from MPL Philippines Season 14, unchanged since the inception of the World Championships in 2019.
Indonesia and host country Malaysia will also receive two slots each for their respective MPL regions, with Malaysia gaining an additional direct qualifying slot this year—up from one direct and one wildcard spot.
Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, North America (NA), Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), Türkiye, Latin America (LatAm), Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and China will each receive one direct qualifying spot, with the final spot awarded to a wildcard participant.
LatAm loses one direct qualifying spot, down from two last year, while China will receive a direct qualifying seat for the first time in the M-Series.
Eight Teams for the Wildcard
The wildcard rounds will continue for the upcoming M6 World Championships, where the runners-up from five MLBB regions, plus the best teams from three additional regions, will compete for the final spot on the main stage.
EECA, Türkiye, LatAm, MENA, and China will retain their seats in the wildcard, alongside the champions of qualifiers from Mongolia, the Mekong Region, and one yet-to-be-determined region.
Timor-Leste will join the Mekong qualifying tournament as the fifth country, alongside Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brunei, while Malaysia has lost its wildcard spot as the runners-up of MPL Malaysia will now receive a direct qualifier slot instead.
The new region, which will be announced in the coming weeks, will replace the South Asian slot that was contested between teams from Bangladesh and Nepal last year.
Increase in Prize Pool
A total prize pool of USD 1 million will be contested by 23 teams in the tournament, up from USD 900 thousand at M5.
The allocation of the prize pool, along with the tournament format and the venues for both the qualifiers and the main stage, will be determined in the coming weeks.
The Axiata Arena, which hosted the M1 World Championships in 2019, will host the semifinals and finals.
