MANILA--Satria Muda pulled away in the fourth quarter while keeping Justin Brownlee from doing what he does best in crunch time to score an 84-71 win against Pelita Jaya in Game 1 of the IBL Finals on Thursday night at the BritAma Arena in Jakarta.
In general, Satria Muda came alive after a slow first quarter and outscored Pelita Jaya, 69-50, to score the home win.
However, the turning point came in the final frame where Satria Muda held Pelita Jaya to just 14 points and kept Brownlee, who has been clutch wherever he goes, scoreless in the last 10 minutes.
Reynaldo Garcia led Satria Muda, now 1-0 up in the best-of-three series, with 25 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and one steal.
Artem Pustovyi added 16 points and eight rebounds.
Anthony Beane led Pelita Jaya with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal, while Brownlee and KJ McDaniels each added 14 markers.
Game 2 of the finals is set for Saturday night at Pelita Jaya's home, the Indoor Stadium Sport Center in Tangerang with Game 3, if the home team wins, also happening at the said arena on Sunday night.
