MANILA—Alec Stockton struck on San Miguel right at the final buzzer as he hit the game-winner in Converge's 114-112 Game 3 victory in the PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinals on Monday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Stockton hit a deep two against CJ Perez's defense to beat the final horn as the FiberXers completed a comeback from 27 points down to stun the sweep-seeking Beermen.
Stockton's clutch basket also made up for his foul on Marcio Lassiter that led to three free throws which tied the game one more time at 112-all and most especially his flagrant foul early in the game that nearly ejected him.
In a game where Jalen Jones struggled and seemed exhausted a bit too early, Stockton and Justin Arana took over for Converge with Stockton finishing with 20 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and one steal.
Arana, playing through a hyperextended right knee, led the way with 23 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Jones still had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds alongside four assists, one steal, and one block as his team forced a Game 4 on Friday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
EJ Anosike put up 39 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while CJ Perez added 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block for SMB.
June Mar Fajardo chipped in 12 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks.
