MANDALUYONG--No more fourth-quarter collapse this time.
Arellano finally won in the NCAA men's basketball tournament after holding off San Sebastian, 87-73, on Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
After two straight games of faltering in the end, the Chiefs made sure there would be no more comebacks as the Golden Stags only got to score 13 points in the fourth quarter, mainly because they could not capitalize on the Chiefs' struggles within the final 10 minutes.
T-Mac Ongotan led Arellano, now 1-4 in the standings, with 21 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
Lorenz Capulong added 12 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.
Ameer Aguilar made 14 points, one rebound, and four steals to lead San Sebastian, which fell to 2-3.
