MANILAThe MPBL called off its supposed Monday night schedule due to the effects of tropical storm "Enteng".

The scheduled triple-header at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig had implications in the North Division playoff race.

Batang Kankaloo was supposed to face the Sarangani Marlins in the first game at 4 p.m. with the Caloocan-based squad looking to stay alive in its bid to take homecourt edge in the playoffs.

The second game at 6 p.m. would have featured Rizal and also-ran Marikina with the Golden Coolers attempting to create more separation in the race for the last playoff spot.

The main game at 8 p.m. would have featured Pangasinan and Manila with both teams having separate playoff-related agendas.

The Heatwaves look to keep what is left of their playoff hopes alive, but they have to go up against the towering Greg Slaughter and the Stars, who are trying to seal a Top 4 place in the North.

A Pangasinan loss or a Rizal win would have officially eliminated the Heatwaves from contention, highlighting what has been a surprisingly struggling campaign for a Jerson Cabiltes-coached MPBL team.

"The new date of the postponed games will be announced in due course," the MPBL said in a statement, although traditionally, the games will be moved right after the original end of the regular season.

The games previously washed out by super typhoon "Carina" have already been rescheduled to the end of September, so the likelihood is that the new set of postponed matches will be played right at the start of October.
