MALVAR, Batangas—Embattled NorthPort young gun John Amores surrendered himself to the Lumban police following a shooting incident that took place at the said town's Poblacion on Wednesday.

In the wee hours of Thursday, Amores turned himself in as a possible attempted murder lawsuit awaits him.

The Lumban Municipal Police Station confirmed to Dugout Philippines that the six-foot-two guard from the adjacent town of Pagsanjan voluntarily surrendered mainly due to threats he was getting from friends of Lee Cacalda, the one Amores had a spat with after a pick-up basketball game.

Videos of said fracas surfaced, implying that Cacalda attempted to charge at Amores and his younger brother after their game but cooler heads prevented matters from escalating.

The said players first let the Amores Brothers leave the basketball court on their motorcycle while still pacifying Cacalda.

However, when Cacalda and the Amoreses crossed paths again along the Manila East Road at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, that was when a gunshot directed at Cacalda was fired.

Amores has remained mum about his side of the story.

Amores first became infamous for throwing punches at some College of St. Benilde players during a 2022 NCAA game when he was still a player for Jose Rizal University.

Amores, though, has since been a changed man upon turning pro, but the gunning incident left a bad taste for basketball fans who now doubt if he has really changed for the good.
