MAKATI - The Cavalry did it on a cold rainy night in Magallanes.
Team Liquid PH demonstrated why they are the reigning MPL Philippines champions by dismantling a rebuilding Blacklist International side, sweeping the series 2-0 to conclude Week 3 of the league's regular season.
It was a bounce-back victory for the Cavalry, who suffered their second loss last Saturday against rivals Falcons AP.Bren.
The Storm was unleashed in Game 1 as Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales led the charge for TLPH with a 4/3/8 performance on Claude, helping secure a narrow 18-16 victory over the Codebreakers.
Despite both teams reaching their power spikes and Blacklist winning late-game team fights, Team Liquid relied on their map awareness, with Alston "Sanji" Pabico's Luo Yi pulling off a Diversion play alongside Bennyqt and Sanford "Sanford" Vinuya's Edith.
Sanford also had an outstanding game, achieving a 5/4/11 KDA while effectively limiting the impact of Jhon Marl "Lord JM" Sebastian's Hylos.
Game 2 told a completely different story, as Liquid dominated the Codebreakers with an 11-minute, 10-0 performance, losing only one turret in the process.
Sanford's Edith rose to the occasion, with his setups proving crucial in leading the team to victory and earning him the game's MVP honors. Meanwhile, Dexter "Exort" Martinez had a rough outing, finishing with three deaths and a 0 KDA on Zhask.
TLPH will face the rising Aurora and the new Barangay Omega in their upcoming matches, while Blacklist must find answers as they prepare to face TNC to close out the first half of the season.
