STA. ROSA, Laguna—Magnolia handed Rain Or Shine its worst loss ever since the latter joined the PBA with a 121-69 win in Game 2 of their Governors' Cup quarterfinal series on Friday night at the City of Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
The Hotshots pulled away from the Elasto Painters in the second quarter after outscoring them, 32-5, and with Aaron Fuller out of the game after his eye was poked, Magnolia, with new import Jabari Bird around, pounced on the now all-Filipino ROS squad the rest of the way.
Bird finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes of action to lead the Hotshots, which forced a 1-1 tie in their best-of-five series.
Calvin Abueva added 18 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block.
Adrian Nocum put up 13 points, one rebound, and one steal for the Elasto Painters.
