MANILA--Letran prevailed in a marathon NCAA game on Saturday as Perpetual Help lost steam in the third overtime session for an 82-73 decision at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
The Knights outlasted the Altas in the end as the latter, which still showed heart despite losing star rookie Mark Gojo Cruz due to cramps in regulation, went scoreless in the last 1:47 of the game and the former pulled away with seven straight points.
Deo Cuajao led Letran, which moved to solo second place at 5-2, with 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Nat Montecillo added 14 points on four triples, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal, while Jimboy Estrada and Kevin Santos each put up 12-point and 15-rebound double-doubles.
Chris Pagaran and John Boral each had 14 markers for Perpetual Help, which fell to fourth place at 4-3.
