NCAA: San Beda sends San Sebastian back to earth after early frenzy

MANILA--San Beda put an end to San Sebastian's early rampage in the NCAA men's basketball tournament with an 85-75 win on Saturday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Red Lions banked on a strong finish to the first quarter, ending the first 10 minutes with a 12-2 run to take a 21-12 lead.

San Beda held on to their lead and extended it to as much as 14, 55-41, in the third quarter.

San Sebastian tried to claw its way back to the game after ending the third on a 10-3 run to cut the lead down to seven, 58-51, but San Beda remained resolute in the fourth to seal the win.

Bryan Sajonia led the Red Lions, who tied their victims at 2-1, with 26 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block, while Yukien Andrada added 21 points, 11 rebounds, and one steal.

Reggz Gabat played through foul trouble and led the Golden Stags with 19 points, three rebounds, and one steal.
