MANILA--Calvin Oftana caught fire from 22 feet out to help TNT repulse Meralco, 108-99, in their PBA Governors' Cup group stages second-round game on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Oftana was almost unstoppable from beyond the classic arc, going 6-of-7 on threes and 9-for-12 in total from the field for 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal to lead the Tropang Giga to the solo top spot in Group A.
"Siguro I'm just being consistent sa mga ginagawa ko," said Oftana, whose TNT squad is now 6-1 even as they swept Meralco in their two-game series, giving them the tiebreaker should they both end up tied on top of the standings at the end of the eliminations.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 22 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, one steal, and two blocks.
Allen Durham put up 26 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and one block, while Chris Newsome added 23 points, four rebounds, and four assists for Meralco, which fell to 0-2.
