QUEZON CITY--George King exploded once again for Blackwater, and this time he had greater help from Sedrick Barefield as the team clawed Phoenix, 123-111, in their PBA Governors' Cup game on Tuesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
King finished with 44 points on 12-of-24 shooting alongside 13 rebounds, four assists, and one steal for the Bossing.
This time around, Barefield, who called game against Barangay Ginebra with a dagger four on Friday night, showed up early on against the Fuel Masters and added 32 points, three rebounds, five assists, and one steal as his tandem with King outplayed the hot scoring of debuting Brandone Francis and Jason Perkins.
Francis, who played the entire 48 minutes of his PBA debut, erupted for 45 points and came close to a triple-double with 10 rebounds and eight assists alongside two steals and one block, while Perkins added 29 points, eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Blackwater pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Phoenix, 39-26, to open a 103-84 lead entering the fourth.
The Bossing scored their second straight win after a 0-3 start, while the Fuel Masters remained winless at 0-4.
