MANILA--Jordan Adams returned with a bang after taking one game off as he led San Miguel to a 139-127 win against Phoenix in their PBA Governors' Cup second-round meeting on Friday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Adams, who gave way to Sheldon Mac in the Beermen's last game against the NLEX Road Warriors, fired 49 points on 16-of-27 shooting including a perfect 2-for-2 on fours and 11 rebounds as SMB moved up to solo second place momentarily in Group B with a 5-2 record.

"Most importantly, we got the win. I just went out there, played hard, and tried to get the win for my team," said Adams.

CJ Perez added 23 points, five rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and one block, while June Mar Fajardo went 10-for-10 from the field for 22 points with 11 rebounds and six assists for SMB.

Marcio Lassiter went 5-for-12 from beyond the arc for all but one of his 16 points, drawing him to within three shots from surpassing fellow Gilas Pilipinas legend Jimmy Alapag as the PBA's all-time leader in three-pointers.

Lassiter can eclipse the record on Sunday night when the Beermen battle Barangay Ginebra.

Brandone Francis' 48-point blast on 17-of-26 shooting went for naught as Phoenix fell to 0-7.
