MANILA––Magnolia pounced on a hapless Terrafirma side for a 124-103 blowout win in their PBA Governors' Cup match on Sunday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
While Tre Robinson passed in what could be his acid test to determine if he would stay with the Hotshots or not, Jerrick Ahanmisi stepped up as well as they ripped the still winless Dyip.
Magnolia quickly blew out Terrafirma with a 34-13 first quarter, and despite the latter slowly getting its offense going, the former, especially with Ahanmisi on point from beyond 22 feet, was just too much.
"Ang important is how to bounce back on our next game," said coach Chito Victolero, whose Hotshots squad recovered mightily after bowing to the TNT Tropang Giga in their previous outing.
Ahanmisi fired 24 points on 6-of-11 shooting from long range including 2-of-3 on threes and 4-of-8 on fours with two assists and two steals as Magnolia moved up to 2-2.
Robinson added 20 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
Stanley Pringle put up 23 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Christian Standhardinger added 22 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and one block for Terrafirma, which dropped to 0-4.
Worse, Juami Tiongson and Kemark Carino left the game early on due to various injuries, while Antonio Hester, facing his former team for the first time this conference, was held to only two points.
