QUEZON CITY--Magnolia pulled away late to take down NorthPort 105-94, in their PBA Governors' Cup game on Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Hotshots went on a 9-1 run within the last 2:42 of the game to break loose from a Batang Pier side that showed heart despite surprisingly giving Venky Jois a rest.
Zav Lucero came alive against his former team with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks for Magnolia, which ended the first round of eliminations with back-to-back wins to move up to 3-2.
Tre Robinson led the club with 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting including 3-of-5 from three-point range, 11 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks, while Paul Lee added 20 points, five rebounds, 11 assists, and two steals.
Cade Flores tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, three blocks, and one steal, while Arvin Tolentino, after dropping 51 points against Converge last week, tallied 11 markers with 12 boards, five dimes, two swipes, and two swats for NorthPort, which fell to 2-3.
