SMB gets back at NLEX as Marcio Lassiter moves up in PBA's top 3-pointer list

MANILA--San Miguel did not need much help from new import Sheldon Mac as the locals stepped up in a 119-114 win against NLEX in the second round of the PBA Governors' Cup group phase on Wednesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Marcio Lassiter, for one, went off for four threes en route to a 17-point performance with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

His last long bomb at the 6:50 mark of the fourth quarter was enough to move past Beermen legend Allan Caidic for second place in the league's all-time three-pointers list.

Although the Road Warriors kept in step with the Beermen the rest of the way, crucial baskets from Jericho Cruz and Don Trollano gave SMB some cushion while clutch free throws from CJ Perez eventually iced the game.

Perez led the Beermen, who moved up to 4-2, with 24 points, five rebounds, one assist, and three blocks, while June Mar Fajardo also put up 17 points with nine rebounds, two assists, and one block.

Apparently still in adjustment mode, Mac had a quiet PBA debut with 16 points, the same as Trollano's output.

Robert Bolick led the Road Warriors, who fell to 3-4, with 24 points, three rebounds, 15 assists, and one steal.

Myke Henry struggled in his farewell game with NLEX, only tallying 17 points alongside six rebounds, six assists, and one block.

Assuming he makes the height cut-off on Thursday, Dequan Jones is stepping in as the team's new import beginning on Tuesday night against Rain Or Shine even as the Road Warriors await the approval of the trade for Javee Mocon.
