Arellano defuses Perpetual Help in Q4 to stay alive in NCAA F4 chase

MANILA––Arellano nearly shut down Perpetual Help in the fourth quarter to score a come-from-behind 66-59 win in their NCAA clash on Tuesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Down 48-55 after the third quarter, the Chiefs limited the Altas to only four points, a layup by Chris Pagaran with 3:47 left and two free throws from JP Boral with 20.5 seconds left and the outcome already settled by then.

Maverick Vinoya led Arellano, which tied its victim at 5-8, two games behind Letran, a 101-98 winner against San Sebastian in a double overtime classic earlier in the day, for fourth place in the team standings, with 20 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal.

T-Mac Ongotan added 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block as the Chiefs won back-to-back games to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

John Abis led Perpetual Help with 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
