BIÑAN—Carlo Lastimosa was cold-blooded from the free throw line as he won it for the home team in a 70-69 Game 2 thriller against South Cotabato in the MPBL South Division quarterfinals on Thursday night at the Alonte Sports Arena.

Lastimosa made two game-winning freebies with 11.3 seconds left as the Tatak Gel completed a fourth-quarter storm to beat the Warriors and send their playoff first-round tie to a sudden-death match.

Jervy Cruz had a chance to steal the win for South Cotabato and close out the best-of-three series, but he missed a wide-open three-pointer before time expired.

Marc Pingris had a brilliant game a day after his birthday as he led Binan with 13 points and three rebounds.

Jaymar Gimpayan and Kenny Rocacurva each added 10 markers.

Larry Rodriguez and Val Acuna each tallied 13 points for South Cotabato, which went scoreless in the last 3:08 of the game and was outscored, 20-7, in the entire fourth quarter.

The rubber match is set for Wednesday night back at the Alonte Sports Arena.
