PASIG—Justin Brownlee blasted off from way downtown to lead Ginebra to a 122-105 win against San Miguel at the start of the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals on Wednesday night at the PhilSports Arena.
Brownlee made five four-pointers, which set a new league record for most shots from 27 feet and beyond, en route to 33 points alongside eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal.
"Somehow, I need to be aggressive," said Brownlee, who went 3-of-5 too from the classic three-pointers, hiking his final stats from long range to 8-of-11.
Stephen Holt added 30 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Scottie Thompson had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists alongside six rebounds and two steals for the Gin Kings, which got a huge headstart to the best-of-seven series.
EJ Anosike led the Beermen with 27 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while June Mar Fajardo chipped in 16 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and one block.
