Deonte Burton scores on a one-handed reverse dunk. KBL |
MANILA--Calvin Epistola and the rest of the Busan KCC Egis prevented Justin Gutang from scoring his first KBL win with the Seoul Samsung Thunders as the road team escaped with a 77-73 squeaker on Tuesday night at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul.
Busan heaved a sigh of relief in the end after Seoul Samsung's fourth quarter blast came up short.
The Egis were up, 67-47, at the end of the third quarter, but the Thunders came alive in the fourth, outscoring them, 26-9, to cut the lead down to three, 76-73, with four seconds left.
However, Deonte Burton's split from the free-throw line with three seconds to go was enough for Busan to finally ice the game.
Burton and Lee Ho-Hyun each scored 17 points even as the former grabbed 11 rebounds for the Egis, who moved up to sixth place in the standings at 3-3.
Epistola was silent for the night with only two points, two assists, and one steal in nearly 12 minutes of action.
Lee Jung-Hyun put up 15 points, three rebounds, six assists, and one steal for the Thunders, who dropped to 0-5.
Gutang showed his versatility despite being held to only four points, grabbing five rebounds, dishing five assists, and blocking one attempt.
