MANILA--Carl Tamayo continued to have a brilliant showing for Changwon, posting solid numbers in his second KBL regular season game with his new team, an 89-84 win against Busan on Monday night at the Changwon Gymnasium.
Tamayo went 7-of-12 from the field including 5-of-6 on deuces for 16 points with five rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block as the Sakers won back-to-back games to start the new season.
However, they had to weather one last attack from the Egis led by Filipino-Canadian stalwart Calvin Epistola.
With his team down 11 with 55.1 seconds left, Epistola hit a triple in the next play even as Tamayo lost the ball to Lee Seoung-Hyun, who went all the way for a layup to cut the lead to six, 87-81, with 31 seconds left.
Epistola then stole the ball from Assem Marei and capped Busan's 8-0 run with a stop-and-pop three that drew them to within three, 84-87, with 23 seconds left.
Doo Kyung-Min finally iced Changwon's win with two free throws with 10 seconds remaining.
