QUEZON CITY--When Jason David Frank's Tommy Oliver role became a Power Ranger again, he told the villains, "I may be old, but I can still pull it off."

Another guy with a similar name implicitly told everyone that same quote during the PBA Governors' Cup Finals either at the Ynares Center or the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jayson Castro proved that he can still be a reliable contributor for TNT en route to the team's 10th championship as the PBA Press Corps named him the Finals MVP.

Now mainly a backup for finals debutant Rey Nambatac, Castro, already 38 years old, still showed some reminders to the fans that he was once the "best point guard in Asia", averaging 10.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game during the Tropang Giga's championship series against Barangay Ginebra.

Although it may not be evident tangibly as seen through his 0.5 steals per game, Castro's lockdown defense mattered a lot in the series, especially guarding Ginebra's rookie point guard RJ Abarrientos.

While Abarrientos had himself a career game in Game 6 in hopes of keeping the Gin Kings alive, Castro limited him late in the fourth quarter as the Tropang Giga ended the game on a 15-2 run to clinch the title.

Indeed, Jayson can still pull it off.
