MANILA--NorthPort is not anymore bringing in the cousin of boxing legend Lennox Lewis for the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The team announced on Monday that Kavell Bigby-Williams is no longer available for the mid-season conference and instead signed Kadeem Jack.
Listed at six-feet-nine, Jack has been a journeyman since turning pro in 2015, having stops in the NBA G-League, Japan B.League, Israel, Taiwan, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, and most recently in UAE with Al-Wahda.
Going undrafted in the 2015 NBA Draft after a four-year collegiate stint with Rutgers, Jack signed a training camp deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2019 before he was assigned to their G-League affiliates, the Blue, for the entire 2019-2020 season.
That season was one of the best in his career, where he averaged 12.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.
In his stint with Pieno Zvaigzdes in the Lithuanian league last season, he tallied 17.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks per outing.
The Batang Pier begin their PBA Commissioner's Cup campaign on Thursday night against the NLEX Road Warriors, another team that made an import change just before the conference opens shop, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
