MANILA--Justin Gutang got revenge of sorts against his former team as Seoul Samsung edged Changwon, 80-79, in their KBL Thursday night encounter at the Jamsil Arena in Seoul.
Kofi Cockburn won it for the Thunders as he scored a buzzer-beater to complete a comeback-sealing 13-2 run within the last 3:51 of the game.
Cockburn led Seoul Samsung, which is now on a roll with its second straight win after a 0-6 start to move up to ninth place in the team standings, with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and two assists.
Lee Won-Seok, who also had a significant role in the game-deciding run, added 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, five rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block.
Gutang finished with six points on 2-for-4 shooting from long range, three rebounds, six assists, one steal, and one block off the bench.
Yu Ki-Sang made 15 points, two rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Darryl Monroe added 13 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one block for Changwon, which lost for the fourth straight time after a 3-0 start and fell to seventh place.
Carl Tamayo, who replaced Gutang as the team's Asian player quota, was held to only three points, three rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
The other KBL game for the night also came down to the last shot as Anyang escaped with a 74-73 win against Suwon.
Jeong Hyo-Geun won it for the Red Boosters with two free throws with one second left even as Moon Seong-Gon's desperation heave failed to hit the mark as time ran out on the Sonicboom.
Bae Byung-Jun had 19 points on 8-for-12 field goals, four rebounds, six assists, and one steal, while Park Ji-Hoon and Michael Young each added 13 markers for Anyang, which moved up to 3-5.
Javi Gomez De Liano never got to play against Suwon.
Rayshaun Hammonds had 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, 13 rebounds, one assist, one block, and two steals for the Sonicboom, who fell to a tie with fellow EASL's KBL representatives Busan KCC Egis in fifth place at 4-4.
