MANILA--SJ Belangel showed his clutch genes on Tuesday night as he led Daegu to an 82-74 come-from-behind win against Suwon in their KBL clash at the Daegu Gymnasium.
Struggling for most of the game, Belangel came alive in the final five minutes, sparking a game-deciding 15-0 run with a fallaway jumper while eventually exchanging baskets with teammate Andrew Nicholson to put the Pegasus ahead, 75-74.
Belangel then stole the ball from Rayshaun Hammonds and found Jeong Seong-Woo wide-open for a big triple that upped their lead to four with 2:44 to go.
Belangel then iced the game with a dagger three, his only made shot from long range, with 1:48 left.
Belangel finished with 12 points, eight coming in that 15-0 run, one rebound, eight assists, one steal, and one block in 34 minutes of action for Daegu, which is now on top of the team standings at 6-1.
Nicholson top-scored for the team with 33 points on 13-for-24 shooting, 10 rebounds, and three steals.
Hammonds had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Suwon, which dropped to fifth place at 4-3 after being held to only six points in the fourth quarter while giving up 25 to Daegu.
