MANILA--NLEX is bringing in former NBA first-round pick Ed Davis as its import for the PBA Commissioner's Cup.
The Road Warriors announced on Monday that Davis, a journeyman who played for eight NBA teams, will join them for the mid-season conference that opens on Nov. 27.
The big man was drafted 13th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors and played there for three seasons.
He also saw action for the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers, Brooklyn Nets, Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Cleveland Cavaliers before taking his acts overseas.
Davis moved last year to Puerto Rico to play for Mets De Guaynabo, but months later, he signed with Chinese league contenders Xinjiang Flying Tigers.
He returned to Puerto Rico and suited up with Cangrejeros De Santurce earlier this year.
Listed at six-feet-nine, Davis was known during his collegiate days at North Carolina as a reliable rim protector, averaging 2.8 blocks per game in his final year with the Tar Heels in 2010.
The year before, UNC won the US NCAA men's basketball title, boosting the draft stock of Davis, then a freshman, ahead of the 2009 NBA Draft, but he decided to stay for another year in hopes of going back-to-back.
However, the Tar Heels struggled during the 2009-2010 season and missed the March Madness.
