MANILA--Just as the PBA Commissioner's Cup officially began, Rain Or Shine also made an import change.

The team announced on Wednesday night that Kenneth Kadji will no longer be its import for the mid-season conference and instead signed up Deon Thompson.

Thompson at one point held the US NCAA record for the most number of games played as he appeared in 152 matches for North Carolina in a four-year run from 2006-2010.

Despite going undrafted, Thompson made it to the Minnesota Timberwolves NBA Summer League team.

Afterward, he packed his bags for Greece and joined Ikaros Kallitheas.

He enjoyed his best moments in the Basketball Bundesliga, where he won the German Cup title for Alba Berlin in 2013 while making it to the All-BBL First Team and winning it all the year later with Bayern Munich.

Thompson also won championships with Hapoel Jerusalem in 2015, Red Star Belgrade in 2017, and Zalgiris Kaunas in 2019, while he too played in China, Turkiye, Spain, Japan, and Puerto Rico.

He last played for Busan in the KBL earlier this year, teaming up with returning Magnolia import Ricardo Ratliffe.

Thompson also played for Ivory Coast in the recent FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

Thompson will make his PBA debut on Sunday night when the Elasto Painters battle the Meralco Bolts at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
