MANILA—Kadeem Jack got one up over Mike Watkins as NorthPort outgunned NLEX, 114-87, to open their respective campaigns in the PBA Commissioner's Cup on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
In a battle of teams that switched imports a few days before the conference began, Jack seemed to have become more comfortable quickly with the Batang Pier than Watkins was with the Road Warriors as NorthPort went on a 35-12 blast in the second quarter to pull away.
Arvin Tolentino made 29 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead NorthPort.
Jack added 25 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Watkins also had 29 points with 19 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal for NLEX, but he lacked ample local support especially with Robert Bolick limited to only three points.
