MANILA--Quentin Millora-Brown of the University of the Philippines men's basketball team (MBT) flew back to the US to rejoin his family with the passing of his lolo Angel.
As such, the one-and-done modern big will not be present in the Fighting Maroons' game against UAAP Season 87 defending champion La Salle on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
"We understand, we respect, and we support Q's decision na umuwi muna to spend time with his family," said MBT head coach Goldwin Monteverde. "The MBT and, I'm sure, buong UP community rin are with him ngayon, as they mourn the loss of a family member. Let's all pray for him."
QMB has been averaging 8.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in his first and only season in maroon-and-green, fortifying the frontline following the departure of former MVP Malick Diouf.
In his stead, a bigger burden will be on the shoulders of Francis Lopez, Mark Belmonte, Aldous Torculas, Gani Stevens, Sean Alter, and Dikachi Ududo to hold down the fort, as State U (9-2) shoots for a fine finish to the elimination round.
Millora-Brown will fly back to the Philippines on Monday, arriving on Wednesday to rejoin UP in its playoff push.
