MANILA--In what could be a preview of things to come, Fnatic Onic Philippines faced off with Team Liquid Indonesia in the APAC open finals of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series on Sunday night.

There, Fnatic Onic PH showed why they were almost unscathed during the MPL Philippines Season 14, sweeping Liquid ID, 2-0, in their best-of-three series to earn a spot in the Challenge Season, the next phase on the road to the SPS's main tournament.

However, coach Tony "Ynot" Senedrin said on Tuesday that he was not impressed with how Fnatic Onic PH performed against Liquid ID.

"Looking at the game... hindi naman ganoon kalinis yung series win," Senedrin said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

He may have a point.

For one, Fnatic Onic PH needed nearly 24 and a half minutes before deposing Liquid ID to go 1-0 up in the race to two.

Fnatic Onic made quicker work in Game 2, dominating Liquid ID in exactly 15 minutes.

"Pagkatapos ng game, usap kami ng mga players namin, and it was kinda like--yes, we won; we're happy, but at the end of the day, we could have done things better," Senedrin further said.

He also believes Liquid ID is saving up for a surprise attack when they meet again on Nov. 28 at the start of the M6 World Championship Swiss stage.

Unlike in the SPS, all the ties in the M6 Swiss stage will be one-game affairs, which makes every result vital in all the teams' world title hopes.

"Hindi pa yun yun eh, and hindi rin yun yung para sa Team Liquid," Senedrin continued, implying that his team is also cooking up something.

The showdown between Fnatic Onic PH and Liquid ID is arguably the most anticipated clash among the first set of matches on the M6 Swiss stage considering that it is the match-up between the national champs of the only two countries with an M Series World Championship.

The M6 Swiss stage will see Fnatic Onic PH, Liquid ID, and 14 other teams from across the globe race to get three wins that would qualify them for the knockout stages.

The first eight teams to clinch their third win will move on to the playoffs, while the rest will kiss their world title hopes goodbye.

Finishing ninth in M1 and second in M3, Fnatic Onic PH, already tagged by many fans and analysts alike as the heavy favorite, hopes that the third time is a charm for them finally.
