MANILA--Fnatic Onic Philippines showed on Saturday that they too can dominate a team fight-heavy game as they swept Selangor, 2-0, in the upper bracket quarterfinals of the M6 World Championship at the IOI Grand Exhibition and Convention Center in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Fnatic Onic PH seemed to already know the ropes of the "brawl meta" as they put on an offensive masterclass against Selangor to move within three wins of winning the world title.
Fnatic Onic PH did not mind losing two Lords midway into Game 1 as they continually pounced on Selangor and eventually two inhibitor turrets down.
The end began in the third Lord fight when Jann "Kirk" Gutierrez, playing Edith, scored the last hit to take the Lord even as his teammates came back to their base just in time to deny John "Innocent" Banal's sneak push at the top lane as Moskov as Selangor lost four heroes in the process, paving the way for Fnatic Onic PH to complete the jugular after nearly 20 minutes.
Game 2 became "The Duane Pillas Show" as Pillas showed why he remains the "gold standard" for gold laners with an unconventional fighter build Granger scoring 11 of Fnatic Onic PH's 22 kills that helped rip Selangor apart.
On Sunday, Fnatic Onic PH will next face Falcon Esports, the tournament's surprise package, in the best-of-five upper-bracket semifinals.
