MANILA--The Games and Amusements Board dropped the executioner's ax on John Amores as the governing body for professional sports revoked the embattled NorthPort guard's professional athlete license amid an ongoing attempted homicide lawsuit against him.

GAB confirmed to Dugout Philippines on Saturday that it found Amores "guilty of conduct unbecoming of a professional basketball player" for his role in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna on Sept. 25.

Amores, along with his brother Red, fired three gunshots at Lee Cacalda moments after they nearly came to blows during a heated pick-up basketball game.

The Amores Brothers surrendered to the Lumban police at 1 a.m. on Sept. 26 amid what they claimed to be threats from Cacalda's group.

They spent the rest of the day going to Laguna's capital Sta. Cruz for some proceedings.

The following day, though, they were released on bail.

On Oct. 7, GAB chairman Francisco Rivera said during a Senate hearing regarding their budget for next year that the agency is considering revoking John Amores' license depending on the PBA's decision.

Four days later, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial announced that Amores was suspended for the entire PBA Commissioner's Cup, although he could still participate in NorthPort's practices and team activities.

With his license revoked, Amores, who is already infamous for a punching incident during an NCAA game in 2022, is no longer allowed to play in the PBA but also in other professional leagues like the MPBL, PSL, and TAT.

Asking for a comment, Batang Pier head coach Bonnie Tan told Dugout Philippines that they have yet to receive the memo about Amores' GAB ban.
