MANILA--Carl Tamayo had a joyous late Christmas outing as Changwon delivered a haymaker on Boxing Day Thursday against SJ Belangel and Daegu with an 85-54 beating at the Daegu Gymnasium.

Tamayo put up 17 points on 7-of-9 field goals, only missing one two-pointer and one three-pointer, as he led the Sakers to their biggest win this season.

In what could be Daegu's worst home loss since Belangel arrived, Changwon turned to their defense in the final three quarters, holding Daegu to only 34 points after the home side looked poised to keep the game close in the first quarter.

Tamayo also had five rebounds, three assists, and one steal as the Sakers improved to 11-10, strengthening their hold on fifth place in the standings.

Assem Marei also tallied 17 markers, going 6-of-8 from the field, with 12 rebounds and six assists.

Andrew Nicholson made 17 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal for the Pegasus, who dropped to fourth place at 12-9.

Belangel only had seven points but had six assists and three steals.
