MANILA--Converge quickly doused cold water on any momentum Phoenix could build after winning its first game in the PBA Commissioner's Cup by ripping them, 116-105, on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Down 15-30 after one quarter, the FiberXers slowly turned things around in the next two quarters, completing the comeback in the third where they dropped 39 points on the Fuel Masters to take the lead for good.
Jordan Heading and Cheick Diallo each scored 21 points for Converge, which now won back-to-back games to move up to 4-2.
Diallo also had 16 rebounds to complete a double-double.
Donovan Smith put up another monster game with 30 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal, but it was not enough to prevent Phoenix from falling to 1-5.
RJ Jazul added 20 points and one steal.
