PBA: HK Eastern spoils Jabari Narcis' debut, repeats over SMB

PASIG—Even with its opponent parading a new import, Hong Kong Eastern still got the upper hand against San Miguel.

The Long Lions completed a 2-0 sweep of the Beermen in their head-to-head clashes in all competitions this week, prevailing in overtime, 99-91, in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Sunday night at the PhilSports Arena.

Four nights after winning their EASL matchup back at home, Eastern pulled away midway into the overtime period, going on a 9-0 run after June Mar Fajardo opened the extension with a hook shot to go up, 96-89.

New import Jabari Narcis tried to keep SMB in the game with a lay-in of his own, but Glen Yang iced the win with a three-pointer within the final minute.

Yang finished with 26 points, seven in overtime, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals for the Long Lions, who ended the year with a 6-2 record PBA-wise, a half-game behind the NorthPort Batang Pier for first place.

Chris McLaughlin added 18 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, one block, and five steals.

Narcis put up 28 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and one steal in a solid debut for the Beermen, but he could not prevent them from falling to 3-3.

Fajardo added 23 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks.
