MANILA--Jordan Heading is not treating Converge's weekend clash against Ginebra as a "tryout" for coach Tim Cone to consider him for a future Gilas Pilipinas stint.

Heading insisted on Thursday night after the FiberXers beat the Phoenix Fuel Masters at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium that he is not thinking about anything Gilas-related when they face off with Cone and the Gin Kings on Saturday night at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.

"The whole Gilas thing is not really on my mind, to be honest. My mindset really right now is Converge versus Ginebra. Whoever's coaching that team, obviously, it's coach Tim, we're locked in on what we need to do to be able to beat them," said Heading, who was named the best player of the game.

In a performance that Cone can look back on if he is to consider Heading again for Gilas duties, the latter put up 21 points, three rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

It can be recalled that Cone once contacted Heading to join Gilas for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament last July due to Scottie Thompson's injury back then but the latter had to beg off to attend to family matters.

While Thompson looks healthy again and is contributing again to the Nationals and Gin Kings like he usually does, Heading could still be in the running to join the Gilas pool anytime soon.

However, he reiterated that his only focus is on beating Ginebra.

"There's no other needed motivation. There's nothing extra that's needed. We just want to beat them Gilas aside," Heading continued.

The showdown between the FiberXers and Gin Kings is the first of only two scheduled PBA Commissioner's Cup elimination round games outside of Mega Manila, the other being a Jan. 18 clash between the San Miguel Beermen and Meralco Bolts at the Candon City Arena.
