MANILA--NorthPort caught some huge fish on Sunday night as they stunned no less than reigning PBA Governors' Cup champion TNT, 100-95, in their Commissioner's Cup game at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Batang Pier finished the game on a 7-1 run within the final 2:33 capped by a dagger three from Joshua Munzon.
Kadeem Jack could have extended that run in the end only to miss two free throws, but he made up for it by blocking Calvin Oftana's four-point attempt that could have brought the Tropang Giga closer even as Rey Nambatac and Kim Aurin muffed their own outside shots.
Jack finished with 27 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks for NorthPort, which is now 4-0 in the standings.
Munzon added 20 points, three rebounds, two assists, and four steals, while Arvin Tolentino chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals, and three blocks.
Oftana led TNT, which fell to 0-2, with 20 points, nine rebounds, and four assists, while Rondae Hollis Jefferson added 19 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and three blocks, although he too committed seven turnovers.
