MANILA--Sedrick Barefield bounced back from a quiet outing against Hong Kong Eastern by scorching for a new season-high 33 points in a 114-98 Blackwater shocker against erstwhile undefeated Meralco in their PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Thursday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Held to only nine points against the Long Lions, Barefield went 13-for-21 from the field even as the Bossing pulled away from the Bolts with a 31-19 fourth quarter.
Barefield also had five rebounds, nine assists, and one steal as Blackwater finally scored its first win of the conference after a 0-3 start.
George King made 32 points and 14 rebounds.
Chris Newsome put up 22 points, seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals for Meralco, which dropped to 3-1.
The team surprisingly decided to keep DJ Kennedy at the bench for the entire game.
