Phoenix finally wins in PBA Comm's Cup, hands NorthPort 1st loss

MANILA--Phoenix put an end to its slump in the PBA Commissioner's Cup by stunning NorthPort, the last undefeated team left at this stage of the conference, 115-109, on Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

In a physical clash that saw 60 fouls whistled and 77 free throws attempts given to both teams, the Fuel Masters showed their might with a more fluid offense that saw them making 53.1 percent of their field goals including 63.8 percent from inside the three-point arc and handing out 31 assists.

Donovan Smith put up 32 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and four steals for Phoenix, which finally notched a win after a 0-4 start, leaving Terrafirma as the only team still winless.

Jason Perkins added 24 points, four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Kadeem Jack made 28 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals for NorthPort, which lost for the first time after a 5-0 start.
