MANILA—Current boxing star Eumir Marcial is now embroiled in a cheating controversy as his wife Princess bared that he allegedly had an affair.
In a statement on Friday night through Facebook, Princess Marcial said the Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist had a secret relationship with another woman who goes by the name "Jessa".
"I caught Eumir having an affair in October last year. I, along with my sister, have personally caught them inside an Airbnb condominium in Pasay where we had them both arrested at a police station. Eumir and his mistress, Jessa both had to be temporarily detained for 5 days," Princess said.
According to Princess, she still gave Eumir a chance despite her family's opposition and signed him to an affidavit of desistance from Jessa for him to be released, but she later found out that Eumir brought Jessa to his hometown in Zamboanga City to continue their affair.
"Currently, I’ve managed to maintain some correspondence with some of our mutual and trusted friends in Zamboanga City where they alluded that Eumir and his mistress have decided to live together. Apparently, he withdrew all our savings and used the money to construct a house for him and his mistress in Zamboanga. I also have friends who have personally seen them together," Princess further said, revealing that she already broke up with Eumir after nearly four years of marriage.
In an interview with News5's Ian Suyu, Princess revealed that Eumir, currently an unbeaten pro boxing prospect with a 5-0 record, was hurting her physically as well.
Princess went to the Pasay City Hall earlier in the day to file violence against women complaint against her now ex-husband.
"Nagkaroon po ako ng malaking pasa dito sa mata ko kasi nasuntok nya," Princess said when she recalled an instance where Eumir allegedly hit her with a back fist to her left eye area.
She then said that their relationship had already shown early signs of going on the rocks right after he returned home following his shock early exit in the Paris Olympics.
"Hindi na siya natutulog kasama ko. Gusto nya na laging umalis, mag-club, uminom, at mag-barkada," Princess further said.
It was when Eumir's habits began becoming more frequent when Princess eventually found out about the affair.
She also showed bruises on other parts of her body to further solidify her claim that Eumir was abusing her.
Atty. Alel Cayanan, Princess Marcial's legal counsel, then called on the Games and Amusements Board to launch a separate probe on Eumir's alleged cheating and abuse since the 29-year-old pugilist could be a future world champion down the road.
Eumir has yet to respond to any inquiry as of posting.
