MANILA - The Philippine national women's futsal team officially opened their campaign to pursue their first appearance to the 2025 Women's Futsal Asian Cup with their 4-1 win vs. Kuwait, tonight on their first match of this main tournament's qualifiers at Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Katrina Guillou tallied her first international futsal goal after she a rebound play in the 02:01 minute frame of the first half.
Isabella Flanigan went fast on her solo after checking the defensive error of the blue kits, launched her attempt but saved by the keeper.
However, Bella rebounded the ball and this time she lofted the ball upward caused to convert the second goal for the 59th place in the FIFA rankings during the 22:02 mark, her debut international goal in her first futsal career as well.
Dionesa Tolentin launched four solid attempts but went straight to the keeper in the first half not until 26:55 minute mark where she scored the third goal for the Philippines.
However, the mess came up Sh. Mohammad put the dirt into the supposed clean sheet by Samantha Hughes after she failed to save the first goal of Kuwait in the 35:16 minute.
But, Guillou put the nail in the coffin for the 61st ranked-team as she finished the job after a steal ball from the clearance and launched it to the keeper-less Kuwaiti defense to score the fourth goal for the Philippines and her second international futsal goal.
Earlier, the unranked Australia got their first win vs. Turkmenistan through 6-1 and currently leading the Group B with +5 goal difference compared to Philippines with +3 although they shared one win.
They will face the host Uzbekistan on Monday at 6PM (PST).
