MANILA--Alec Stockton came alive in the fourth quarter to help Converge preserve a 103-96 win against Rain or Shine in a crucial PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Tuesday night at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Stockton fired 17 of his 21 points in the final canto as the FiberXers kept the Elasto Painters from retaking the lead after climbing back from 14 down in the second quarter through a 30-13 blast.
Stockton added four rebounds and five assists to lead Converge, which moved up to second place at 7-3, a half-game behind NorthPort, which lost to Meralco in the first game.
Jordan Heading added 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Justin Arana chipped in 15 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks as the locals stepped up in a game where Cheick Diallo only managed to score eight markers.
Kevin Racal went 4-for-4 from beyond the three-point arc for all but one of his 13 points alongside one block off the bench.
Jhonard Clarito put up 24 points and six rebounds, while Deon Thompson added 22 points, 22 rebounds, one assist, and one block for ROS, which dropped five spots from second to seventh at 5-3.
The team played the latter part of the third quarter and the entire fourth without head coach Yeng Guiao, who was sent off after incurring two technical fouls.
