MANILA—San Miguel sizzled from long range in the end to upend Magnolia, 85-78, in a crucial PBA Commissioner's Cup game on Sunday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
With both teams' quarterfinal hopes hanging in the balance, the Beermen pulled away with an 11-2 run at the end, anchored upon back-to-back threes from Marcio Lassiter and another triple from CJ Perez, which turned out to be the dagger.
Perez also blocked Mark Barroca's three-pointer on the other end even as June Mar Fajardo added two free throws for the final score.
Perez led SMB, which stays in eighth place with an even 4-4 record, with 23 points on 3-for-4 shooting from deep, six rebounds, 10 assists, four steals, and one block.
Jabari Narcis added 18 points, 23 rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and one steal as he finally won a game for the team after four tries among both the PBA and EASL.
Fajardo and Juami Tiongson contributed 13 markers each with the former also grabbing 14 boards.
Ricardo Ratliffe posted 24 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, one block, and one steal for Magnolia, which fell to 11th place at 3-6.
