PASIG—Terrafirma is leaving the PBA Commissioner's Cup with a win after all.
The Dyip prevented themselves from ending their campaign in the mid-season conference winless after stunning the TNT Tropang Giga, 117-108, on Wednesday night at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Terrafirma pulled away in the second and third quarters, outscoring TNT, 74-42, to go up, 99-70, entering the fourth.
Down by as much as 31 points, the Tropang Giga still managed to cut the deficit down to seven points, but their fourth-quarter push came a bit too late.
Mark Nonoy exploded for a career-high 33 points on 10-of-13 field goals including 5-of-6 on threes and 2-for-3 on fours, four rebounds, four assists, and one steal off the bench to lead Terrafirma, which snapped a 12-game losing streak dating back to its last game in the PBA Governors' Cup.
Brandon Edwards added 19 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and one steal.
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson sizzled for 41 points on 13-of-23 field goals, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and four blocks for TNT, but his efforts were not enough as the team dropped to a tie with Rain Or Shine, which will play Ginebra later Wednesday, for fifth place at 6-3.
