MANILA--Zamboanga faltered in its first game in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, losing 82-97 to Sharjah early Sunday (Philippine Time) at the Al-Nasr Club in Dubai.
Zamboanga surprised Sharjah early on, racing to a 30-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.
However, Sharjah bounced back with a 30-17 second quarter and gradually pulled away in the second half.
Nicholas West put up 30 points, nine rebounds, one assist, one block, and two steals, while former NLEX import DeQuan Jones added 29 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one steal for Sharjah.
Sam Degura made 16 points on 7-of-9 field goals and 11 rebounds for Zamboanga.
Despite the PBA's reported dispute over his release from San Miguel, Kyt Jimenez was fielded in and scored seven points and five rebounds off the bench.
