MAKATI—On Friday night, Ginebra banked on a vintage performance from Japeth Aguilar to win, 119-106, against NorthPort in Game 2 of the PBA Commissioner's Cup semifinals at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
The 38-year-old big man turned back time and led the Gin Kings, who exploded for 68 first-half points to stomp their dominance on the Batang Pier, with 31 points on 11-of-19 shooting.
Aguilar also had eight rebounds, one assist, and one block as Ginebra is now 2-0 up in the best-of-seven series.
Jamie Malonzo added 17 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block, while Justin Brownlee played the role of a facilitator with 11 assists, 10 points, three rebounds, two steals, and one block.
Kadeem Jack led NorthPort with 27 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block, while William Navarro added 23 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and one steal.
