Filipinas to welcome debutants Saudi Arabia in WAC Qualifiers

MANILA -- The Philippine Women's National Football Team will set up their gears in looking forward for their second Women's World Cup appearance as the draw lots for the Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers commenced, Thursday afternoon. 

The 41st-ranked team was place in Group G and they will face Hong Kong China, Saudi Arabia and group prequalifying tournament host, Cambodia. Top team for this group will proceed to the final tournament of the 2026 Women's Asian Cup in Australia. 

Saudi Arabia's participation in this prequalifying tournament will be their first time since their inception last year and they already had friendly games with Moldova, Laos, Palestine, Pakistan, and recently with Indonesia and Tajikistan.

Filipinas will also meet Cambodia for the second time since their last meet-up was in 2022 SEA Games. 

For Hong Kong, this will be their 15th date with the Filipinas and their last face off was way back in Olympic Qualifiers in Tajikistan where they defeated, 0-4. 

The Pre-Qualifying tournament will happen on June 23 to July 5, 2025. 

But before the tournament, the Filipinas will host, two times, United Arab Emirates for the international friendly in Dubai this April 4 and 8. 

Head tactician Mark Torcaso summoned 25-women roster for this Dubai camp with Madison Ayson, Aliana Weibel, Paige McSwigan as newbies. 

Olivia McDaniel, Nina Meollo, and the comeback of Inna Palacios will fill the goalkeeper position. 

Mayumi Pacheco, Angela Beard, Jessika Cowart, Janae Defazio, Sofia Wunch, and Hali Long to form the defensive arsenals of the women's team. 

Sara Eggesvik, Kaya Hawkinson, Natalie Oca, Isabella Pasion, Alexa Pino, and Camille Sarihul will be the midfielders. 

Alessandrea Carpio, Charleigh Frilles, Chandler Mcdaniel, and Meryll Serrano for the attacking position. 

Sara Castañeda and Katrina Guillou are activate after their stint with the futsal team who played in the 2025 AFC Women's Futsal Asian Cup qualification last January.
