Arth Dela Cruz tries to secure the ball against Richard Velchez. MPBL |
MANILA--Ilagan introduced itself to the MPBL community with a flurry after drubbing Sarangani, 74-54, in the former's very first homestand on Saturday night at The Capital Arena in Ilagan.
The Cowboys set the tone early on by holding the Marlins to only eight points in the first quarter, and the home squad blasted off after erupting for 27 fourth-quarter points against the road team's 15.
Arth Dela Cruz took flight for Ilagan with 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block.
JR Olegario added 13 points, two rebounds, one assist, and two steals as the aforementioned players led the charge off the bench.
Kyt Jimenez's much-anticipated MPBL return went well individually as he led Sarangani with 14 points, four rebounds, and four assists, but the performance was one of the very few positives in a nightmarish season debut that saw the team only converting 33 percent from the field and 43 percent on free throws and committing 21 turnovers.
