QUEZON CITY--Zamboanga needed a solid defensive stand in the second half to rip Sarangani, 82-67, in their MPBL game on Monday night at the Bataan People's Center in Balanga.
Holding to a 39-38 halftime lead, the SiKat held the Marlins to just 29 points in the last 20 minutes while steadily pulling away from there.
Paul Turco led Zamboanga, now 2-0 in the standings, with 15 points, nine rebounds, and one block, while Abdul Sawat added 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, one steal, and one block.
Martin Gozum had a game-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with five rebounds, and three assists, but it was not enough to keep Sarangani from dropping to 0-3.
