Roi Sumang earned a win in his first game with Zamboanga. MPBL |
MANILA--Despite losing some of its key players from previous seasons, Zamboanga showed that it can still win in the MPBL after drubbing Val City, 77-57, on Wednesday night at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.
In a battle between squads that infused new blood, the SiKat banked on a balanced offense that saw nine players scoring six points or more while keeping their defense in check to trip the Magic.
James Una and John Calisay each scored 10 points off the bench for Zamboanga, who began life without the former Lyceum trio of Toci Tansingco and the Marcelino Twins, who all signed up with Nueva Ecija, with a win.
Jan Formento put up 16 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Kobe Monje added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and one steal for the Valenzuela franchise, whose core of last year's lineup joined the returning Cebu club this year.
